AIDA2 Freediver Course:

Due to Cyclone Gabrielle and the uncertainty around whether Lake Pupuke will be safe to swim, we have moved the course dates to 3-5 March instead. This gives the weather and water a chance to settle after the events of Late Jan/Early Feb.

The goal of the AIDA Level 2 Freediver Course is to build your freediving foundations. To achieve this the course focuses on giving you the theory and teaching you the techniques that Freedivers of all levels use day in and day out.

From the duck dive, to finning technique and equalisation – you will learn all basic skills and safety procedures step by step.

Many freediving novices are concerned about numbers, such as minutes of breath hold or depth of a dive in order to become a certified freediver. In fact, the numbers will come easily once you have mastered the basic skills, which is why this course focuses on this on teaching you good ‘dive habits’ from the beginning.

This course is designed for beginner Freedivers, as such, there’s no need to do an AIDA Level 1 before starting this course. At the end of this course the goal is for all students to be comfortable with 2min+ Static Breath Holds, 40m+ Dynamic Apnea Swims and 12-20m Deep Dives.

Prerequisites: Can swim 200m non-stop without the aid of fins, mask, snorkel or wetsuit. Are 18 years or older (or 16 years old with parental consent).

Course Outline:

Duration: 2.5 Days.

This allows us to be certain of numbers attending the course so we can book pool space, classroom space etc. Any situation where a course is unable to go ahead for an unforeseen reason at AFC, we will fully refund your deposit.

We require 3 people minimum for a 4 person course to go ahead. For an 8 person course, we require a minimum of 5. If we (AFC) have to cancel a course due to not having enough participants, your deposit will be fully refunded.

COVID19 – We have seen alert levels change at short notice. In the event of a change that will prevent the course from fully going ahead, your deposit will be fully refunded. If you are sick, please let us know and don’t attend. We will work out a way for you to catch up.
