This event was cancelled due to staff shortages at Auckland pools, including WestWave. We are trying to re-book it for another date.
Learn or improve some basic depth skills before the start of 2022/23 open water diving season. This session is highly recommended for anyone planning to do depth training this summer and can be a good opportunity to improve for those already training for depth.
- basics of equalization (EQ) for beginners (frenzel method)
- hands-free EQ
- duck-dive (how to start your dive cleanly and efficiently)
- bottom rescue (how to bring your unconscious buddy from the sea floor to the surface)
It is a workshop, not a formal course. We will adjust the training plan on the day to suit the needs of the participants. The training will take place in a 6m deep diving pool in WestWave.
- Date / time: 6am – 7:30am, but we have a backup time for 5:15-6:45pm, indicate in the comments if you cannot make it for the morning session
- Who can attend: current paying AFC members only
If your AFC membership lapsed you are welcome to re-rejoin for one month only to attend this event and squeeze in a few training sessions as well.
What to bring
- wetsuit you normally use for dynamics
- fins
- mask + snorkel
- weight belt with enough weight to be used without a neck weight
- neck weight (optional)
Prerequisites
We will achieve more if we practice some EQ in advance. There won’t be much time to explain the EQ theory during the training.
